Compensation: $24.00 - $38.00 per hour
Hours of Work: Vary and are dependent on program registration/attendance. Programs are offered mornings, afternoons, and evenings on weekdays and weekends. Applicants may teach more than one class and at more than one location.

Experienced aquatic fitness instructors teach a variety of fitness programs which may include the following: aquacize, deep-water workout or running programs. Responsibilities include:
Teach specific skills to participants through progressive physical fitness development and sharing of knowledge.
Plan and implementation of quality fitness programs.
Assess participant needs and provide adaptations as necessary.
Ensure safety of participants.
Prepare and maintain of equipment, supplies and program space.
Maintain program records and assist with program evaluation.
Maintain high degree of customer service.
Other related duties as assigned.

The successful applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age, have Standard First Aid Certification and CPR level "C" renewed annually. Must also possess a current Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) or Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance (CALA) certification or equivalent.

Success in this position requires:
Demonstrated skill, knowledge and proficiency in area of instruction.
Excellent communication skills and positive representation of City Recreation programs.
Demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to changing needs of program and/or participants.
Sound judgment in safety standards.

Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized as meeting the minimum qualifications.
More than one position may be filled from this competition.
A security clearance will be conducted.
