Outdoor Swimming Pool - Aquafit Instructor
Seasonal position- June – September 13, 2015
part time position available; $12-16 / hr based on experience

The Millican Ogden Community Association is a very active community operating the Jack Setter Arena, Outdoor Pool, Community Hall/ Lounge and the SE Calgary Community Resource Centre. Millican Ogden CA is an inner city community located in the southeast area of the City.

The Outdoor pool season operates from June 20th to September 7th, 2015.

The Aquafit instructors- reporting to the Pool Supervisor & Shift Supervisor, this position involves monitoring and ensuring the safety of patrons in an aquatic environment. The Aquafit instructors are responsible for the drop in Aquafit classes operating one or two days per week

  • Aquafit Instructors are responsible for conducting and developing program and swim lesson plans for swimming instruction at all levels.
  • Aquafit Instructors evaluate students’ performance, accomplishments and maintain records of performance and attendance.
  • They also ensure compliance with safety procedures and deal with patrons’ questions and concerns regarding swimming lessons.
  • Aquafit Instructors will be required to put away all equipment that was utilized in the swim lesson, and may also be required to assist in cleaning, hosing of locker rooms, laundry, vacuuming, monitoring of office and answering phones.

Minimum qualifications

  • 6 months experience as a lifeguard or swim instructor
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age,
  • Knowledge of aquatic and emergency safety procedures and relevant legislation is required
  • A current police record clearance
  • Child Welfare check- upon hire

Applications must also have the following awards
(Current or within the expiry dates indicated on the award):

  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • Aquafit instructor
  • National Lifeguard- an asset
  • Standard First Aid and CPR (Basic Rescuer) Awards- as asset
  • AED- as asset
